All women are invited to join the Sole Sisters, a friendly walking group where all walking speeds are welcome! The group enjoys a trek of up to 4 km, making it a great opportunity to get outside, enjoy some fresh air and meet new people. Our first walk for the fall will be Monday, September 14.
Walkers come from Glen Morris, Cambridge, Paris, Ayr and St. George - and everyone is welcome! The group meets at 9:00am every Monday at the rail trail parking lot on Forbes Street in Glen Morris.
Walking takes place in most weather conditions, although during the winter months, when the rail trail isn’t walkable, the route is occasionally “detoured” to McPherson School Road.
After the walk, everyone gathers at Glen Morris United Church for conversation, coffee, tea and, of course, lots of laughs!
SPECIAL UPDATE:
We do have a couple of changes for 2026/27. Jane Hutchinson, who has hosted the Coff-tea House since its beginning is now retiring from this role. Heartfelt thanks to Jane for volunteering her time every week and for the generous treats she (and Norma Wilson) always provided for us to enjoy. Norma is continuing to co-host and Joan Sims is now going to be her team mate. They will look after the set up and make the coffee and tea for us. We are going to change to the format that the Men’s Wednesday Coffee House follows. Margaret Fleury does the set up and prepares the beverages but the snacks are provided by the participants. Each week someone volunteers to bring one kind of treat for everyone. (Ie: coffee cake/muffins/fruit loaf etc.) This way everyone can contribute and not just one or two people are doing it all. Margaret McPherson will place a sign up sheet on the bulletin board in the RCR kitchen. On your sign up day, you can still walk with Sole Sisters and bring the snack to the Coff-tea House when you arrive. There will be gluten free crackers available each week. The $2 donation towards the church renovation fund will continue. Many thanks to Norma and Joan. Sole Sisters enjoy this opportunity to have a ‘cuppa and chat’ together and we appreciate you volunteering your time to make this happen.
Just a reminder to UYOJ (Use Your Own Judgement) re: the weather and walking on the Trail. The Coff-tea House will be available rain or shine. If inclement weather during the winter and our road walk is cancelled, then the same will be for the ‘cuppa and chat’ time.
Sole Sisters enjoyed several ‘dip, sip, and chat’ times at Kathy Marziano’s pool this summer. Thank you, Kathy, for sharing your pool and lovely lounge area with us every week and for the delicious ‘sweetened’ coffee you provided.
