A Prayer for All Impacted by Wildfires

This month has seen destruction and despair caused by wildfires burning across the country. We are grieving with the people and communities whose lives have been forever changed and we're keeping everyone affected by the fires in comforting prayer.

The Foundation maintains a focus on the ethical aspects of human-driven climate change: caring for Creation and pursuing climate justice. The evolution of "wildfire season" in Canada is a deeply concerning trend. We'll continue to seek out and support initiatives and strategies that help vulnerable communities most at-risk of the devastating effects of climate change.

The United Church of Canada recently shared this prayer:

Creator,

Wildfires are engulfing homes,

leaving us vulnerable, exposed, open:

We come to you, broken, seeking wholeness…

In our time of need provide for us those things that will bring restoration to all of creation,

  the gifts of the spirit

  and the gift of each other.

Above all, remind us always of your steadfast and abiding love.
