The Glen Morris United Church Applefest fundraiser was a ‘sweet’ success, with every donation of ingredients, funds, and volunteer hours coming together to make it happen. 2025 marks 30 years that the church has taken part in St. George Applefest, an award-winning Ontario festival. Over the course of several days, teams of volunteers peeled apples and prepared pastry in Glen Morris, then double-crust and crumble-crust varieties were assembled, baked and boxed at Wesley United Church in Cambridge, ready for sale on Saturday, September 20. With much thanks to all who donated and volunteered, convenors Lyanne Lynch and Liz Degroote led the effort, which produced 100 pies in total. Sales were brisk, with all pies sold out by 1:30 p.m. The event raised $2,100, a total that was joyfully announced at Sunday’s church service.
