Dear Church Family,

As we look around at our congregation, it is easy to feel deep gratitude for the vibrant community we share. Through our collective worship, outreach programs, and fellowship, we continue to experience God’s love in action every week.

I am sorry therefore to have to report that over the summer months our church has fallen significantly short of meeting its revenue targets. Our Treasurer reported last month that by August 31, there was a shortcoming of expenses over revenues of $42,361.42. In order to pay ongoing expenses, the Committee of Stewards approved cashing our remaining $25,000 GIC to cover operating expenses. To meet the obligations of our 2026 budget as approved by the congregation at our annual meeting last February, contributions need to increase if we are to continue our current ministries.

We need your financial support now by asking everyone to give to our local expense account. Please consider making a one-time contribution and also increasing your regular financial commitment. Every amount, regardless of size, will play a vital role in keeping our doors open, support our minister and staff, and fund the ongoing life and work of our church.

Reflect & Pray: Take a moment to prayerfully consider how your stewardship aligns with your current blessings and capacity.

Consider a Monthly Increase: Even a modest bump makes a meaningful difference in meeting our annual operating goals.

Set Up Automated Giving: Recurring online transfers ensure consistent support throughout the year, making it easier for our leadership to plan ahead.  

Donation Methods

Donations by personal cheque or cash: These can be placed in the Sunday church offerings. Cheques to be made out to: Glen Morris United Church. Alternatively, donations can be mailed to: Glen Morris United Church, 453 East River Rd. Glen Morris, ON, N0B 1W0

Donations by E-transfer: An E-transfer donation can be made directly to the church bank account. This can also be set up as a recurring monthly payment with your financial institution. The church account has been set up to accept E-deposits automatically, no question and answer required. In the message line, you can designate a portion for church operating funds,renovations and/or the United Church Mission and Service Fund. For church non-members, please include your mailing address in the message line in order that tax receipts can be issued at year end.

E-transfers can be made to our treasurer John Graham at gmucdonation@gmail.com who will get email confirmation of the deposit. The E-transfers can be as often as you wish but at least monthly transfers are requested.

Donations by PAR (pre-authorized remittance):  If you have automatic withdrawals from your bank account to pay bills, then you understand the PAR principle. Besides being convenient, using PAR for the church offering ensures regular monthly givings to help our church’s ministry even when you are away. You will be providing our congregation a dependable flow of contributions, which increases our overall financial stability. Donations can be assigned to the church operating account, renovation fund, and/or the United Church Mission and Service Fund.
The automatic withdrawals occur on the 20th of each month. You can modify or cancel your donation, change how it is designated, or change your information at any time. To sign up for PAR or to change your PAR donations, please contact the church Treasurer as jgraham1215@rogers.com.

Donations via Canada Helps:  For non-church members or those who prefer, donations to the church can be made through Canada Helps. In this case, the tax receipts are issued directly by CanadaHelps. The link for the Glen Morris United Church Canada Helps page is here.

Consider Legacy Givings:  Talk to your family about gifts given in memory of loved ones.  This was a common practice in the past and is still very impactful for all congregations today.
