"Once again, the Global Report on Food Crises highlights the sobering reality that the number of people experiencing acute food insecurity rose for the sixth consecutive year to 295.3 million people. Not surprisingly, the leading driver of hunger continues to be conflict and insecurity, and countries with food crises host 70% of all refugees and asylum seekers.

Unfortunately, the outlook for this year is not encouraging. Conflicts are not going away, and support for humanitarian assistance is declining, leading to a potential 45% cut in humanitarian allocations to food sectors in countries with food crises. Shockingly, over 2.3 million children experiencing severe acute malnutrition will lose nutrition support, and projections are that global funding cuts could result in the death of an additional 369,000 children a year.

While we know we cannot fill this enormous gap, we will continue to reach one person at a time, making a critical contribution for the hundreds of thousands of people we reach with food and nutrition assistance. We couldn’t do this work without your support."
