This year the Sunday S'Cool has been working with the “GO PROJECT” curriculum.  Here are a few movies that they have used to help foster connection. They are available on Disney+ but local libraries may have them as well in dvd format as well.  We'd love to know what you think so email us at glenmorris.uc@gmail.com.


ENCANTO
Encanto can be found on Disney+. It is a children's movie that highlights the themes of familial love - love through differences, generational trauma, immigration, and more.
Discussion Prompts:
What family member do you most feel like? Why?
What was your favourite gift that a family member had? Why?
What are some of your own gifts or talents?
What are the gifts or talents of your family members? What does a good apology feel like to you?
Activity:
Host a family talent show!!

TURNING RED
Turning Red can be found on Disney+. It is a children's movie that explores the physical changes we go through when growing up. It follows the story of a young girl's adolescence in a fun, funny, and awkward way! Watch as she navigates her family history, crushes, friendship, and changes.
Discussion Prompts:
Who do you most relate to in this story? How so?
What are some of your biggest emotions? When do you feel them the strongest?
What are the changes you feel or notice in your own body?
Activity:
Think about, if your emotions could turn into an animal - what would that animal be? Then, turn yourself into that animal with costumes and crafts.

UP
UP can be found on Disney+, depicting that the real adventure of life is the relationship we have with other people, and it's so easy to lose sight of the things we have and the people that are around us until they are gone.
Discussion Prompts:
Who do you most relate to in this story? How so?
What does it feel like to make a new friend? Are there certain personality traits you look for in friends?
Who in your life means a lot to you? Or is very special to you?
Who inspires you to follow your dreams?
Activity:
Blow up a bundle of balloons and on each one, write the name of a friend, family member, or someone special to you. Or, draw a bundle of balloons and write the names inside each coloured balloon!

SOUL
Soul can be found on Disney+, and is a story about finding our 'spark' or 'purpose' in life - and explores the meaning of life. The story follows Joe, who has a near death experience on the day he finally reaches his life long goal. If he can find out the real purpose of his life, and hep another find theirs, he can get back to his big day. The movie's message (like God's message for us) is that we are already enough before any of our 'accomplishments' or 'successes.'

What might your spark in life be?
What are the dreams you have for your life in the future? How do you see and feel God loving and supporting you?
Activity:
Write a letter to your future self! Here is a template based on the movie.
