Dear Glen Morris United Church,

Peace be with you! Thank you so much to all of you for the ways you have celebrated this year’s Advent theme “From Generation to Generation” - it’s such an honour to have such cherished and precious memories shared in community.

I know this is a busy time of year for so many of you - travel plans to visit family, hosting company, the ordinary parts of life that don’t pause just because it’s December - and that may mean taking some time away from attending church. I hope that you are able to find ways to bring the hope, peace, joy, and love of the season wherever you may find yourself and to find a moment of your own to connect with God.  Or, as I have been saying throughout Advent during the benediction:

The God of yesterday and the God of tomorrow

knows you by name, loves you, and calls you forth, saying,

“Go be the person you are called to be, love wildly, do justice, and come back soon.”

This week, I have several offerings for you to enjoy:

A Christmas Message from our Moderator: In her Christmas video message, Moderator Carmen Lansdowne reminds us that when so much seems uncertain and the news amplifies all the hard news stories, there is One who came to show us that all the ends of the earth should see the salvation of God―and that through that One, we are capable of coming together to achieve the impossible.

New Lessons from the Grinch - A blog post about loving our neighbours during Christmas by Rev Dr Dorothy Sanders Well

The Giver - an original song by Mia McClain celebrating the Advent season

As you hope for a world where Jesus’ vision of Good News comes to life, may the Peace of Christ accompany you,

As you search for your meaning of peace in your lives, may the Peace of Christ guide you

As you cultivate joy this Advent, may the Peace of Christ inspire you,

As you celebrate Love, may the Peace of Christ be your anchor,

Yours in Christ,

Rev Michiko
