Peace be with you friends,
If the snow all around us outside wasn’t enough to bring us into the season, the beautiful decorations inside the church certainly are. Thank you to our decorating committee for bringing a special Christmas twinkle to our space and thank you to everyone who attended our crafting event last Sunday!
Last week’s worship service was an introduction to this Advent’s theme: What do you fear? Insisting on Hope this Advent Season. This video really captures that invitation so please take a look:
We still have a few copies of the devotionals available if you weren’t able to pick one up last week. For those of you who prefer a digital option, the devotional is also available through this link: What Do You Fear? An Advent Devotional by A Sanctified Art
Wednesday, December 10th: Soup and Storytelling (starting at 6 pm)
It’s easy to jump into a conversation about our plans for the holidays - travelling, feasting, presents, the running around but not always as easy to share about the challenges, fears, and grief we are holding during this time of year. Despite all of the gathering with family and friends, we might not always know how to start a heavy conversation or share a story that doesn’t quite fit into the “holiday mood.”
Soup and Storytelling is an event designed to create that space - a “Blue Christmas Service” with a Glen Morris twist: we are breaking bread together, and listening to how God is speaking through prayer, song, and our own stories. Whether you are really seeking a place to name your grief, or just needing a moment to reflect on how stressed out life has been lately - this is for you. Hope to see you there!
