Dear Glen Morris Community of Faith,

Peace be with you! I’m very much looking forward to having you join me in our church’s Annual General Meeting this Sunday. This is our chance to gather as a church and honour all the ways that we have served God over the past year and discern together where the Spirit is guiding us in the future. Yes, it is a meeting with reports to read and an agenda to follow and I know that for some of you this is not your definition of fun - but I hope that you will still join us because your presence and your voice matters. It’s not always easy to hold in a report the ways that church has moved us, changed us, supported us, but we are truly blessed that God has called us to be church in this beloved Glen Morris community.

Thank you all who joined me last week in marking the start of Black History Month. I hope that you are finding opportunities in other parts of your life to engage in Black History Month as well - there is always so much to be learned, celebrated, and reflected on! As always, if you need a listening ear to reflect on topics we have shared in worship, such as anti-Black racism, I’m always happy to share in your questions, thoughts, and ideas. No single sermon or prayer can possibly say all that needs to be said and I love to see conversations continue beyond Sunday morning.

For a thoughtful and very current conversation about faith and confronting anti-Black racism please check out Rev Otis Moss III in conversation with Diana Butler Bass. Rev Moss is someone who amazes me every time I hear him speak - if you want to feel inspired take a listen by clicking here!

I’m sure that many of you are feeling heavy hearted seeing the news about recent natural disasters in Turkey and Syria - I’m looking forward to sharing with you in a time of prayer this Sunday as we turn to God in this time of tragedy.

In the big moments and the passing of everyday life, may the peace of Christ be with you this week,

Yours in Christ,

Rev Michiko
