Dear Glen Morris United Church,
This Sunday will be an important congregational meeting where we vote on becoming an Affirming Ministry. I have seen the way this process has invited us to practice having brave and honest conversations with each other, challenged us to think about new and different perspectives, and blessed our community of faith with storytelling, shared meals, shared laughter, authenticity, and vulnerability. What a blessing to have had our Affirming Committee offer the church such important leadership over the past couple of years.
This vote will be an opportunity for us to affirm as a church a commitment to radical welcome and inclusion. What is also exciting about becoming an Affirming Ministry is that we will be joining a community and network of people across The United Church of Canada who are passionate about justice, outreach, and who are living out their faith in many inspiring ways. It has been a privilege, a joy, and a labour of courageous love to walk with you on our Affirming Ministry process so far.
May the peace of Christ be with you as you discern how God is calling us to be church at this time.
