Dear Glen Morris United Church,

For this week’s message I would like to gift you with the sound of voices from all over the world joining together to sing for peace. We will be singing this song together in worship on Sunday and I hope you have a chance to take a listen so you can remember these voices singing alongside you when we gather.

It’s been a challenging week to be reflecting and praying on the theme of peace while preparing for our Remembrance Day service. The past tense language we usually use to talk about the horrors of war that we had hoped were behind us doesn’t seem fitting in a world where there is so much death and destruction in Palestine, Ukraine, Sudan, the Congo, and more. It makes Remembrance Day feel more important than ever but all the more heartbreaking.

Blessed are the peacemakers - those who work for peace on the frontline of conflict, those who help us imagine peace through their art, those who teach peace, and all of us who gather and pray for peace.

May the peace of Christ be with you,

May the peace of Christ keep every heart open,

May the peace of Christ bless everyone searching for peace,

Yours in Christ,

Rev Michiko
