Dear Passing the Peace Readers,
I am delighted to be back in the Glen after taking my vacation time to do a bit of travelling! I spent my last two weeks of August in Kenya and Tanzania enjoying the beautiful wildlife and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. This was my first time travelling to Africa and I was so grateful to learn in a first-hand way about the land, history, and culture. Hiking up Kilimanjaro was an incredible experience with so much diverse geography and a chance to meet people from all over the world. I loved using my very minimal Japanese, very rusty French and Spanish, and newly learned Swahili greetings to connect with so many people all sharing a challenging adventure.
September is a month of transitions - to colder weather, to plants readying for harvest, students and teachers back to school, and Glen Morris United Church returning to our building for worship on Sunday mornings, 10:30 am. However your summer has treated you, I hope you feel the warm invitation to join us for worship and (re)connect with your siblings in Christ. I have missed you all and look forward to joining you in worship and other community events coming up this Fall!
Yours in Christ,
Rev Michiko
