Grandview Theatre Company presents the Grand River Quilt Project at Glen Morris United Church, Saturday, September 26, 2026.
The quilt is inspired by the waters of the Grand River and was lovingly created by people throughout the Grand River basin, including Glen Morris, through last year's Voice Of The River project. The Quilt project has been led by Pat Flood and Sharon Gashgarian.
Most of the squares come with a story, and following the opening of a Thanksgiving address delivered by Austin Silversmith, a collection of the quilt stories will be shared, adapted and dramatized by Peter Smith and Laurel Paetz. As well Austin Silversmith and Cordelia will be performing their work adapted from quotes of residential school survivors, You Are Not Forgotten and Rae Crossman will be presenting his poem Boy in the Bow. Area river, flora and fauna photos by Glen Morris resident Jeff Leader will also be on display.
Timing will be somewhat fluid, with doors open at 12:30 to view the quilt, presentation at 2:00pm and a time to chat with performers, organizers and some quilters at 3:30. Coffee, tea and water will be available.
This is a free event and open to all.
