Raised on a farm in the Kingsville area of Ontario, Rev. Richard Golden developed a strong appreciation for community and service from an early age. After graduating from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, he worked in the Works Department for the Town of Kingsville. During this time, he answered a call to ministry and became a licensed Lay Preacher. In 1990, he retired from municipal service to pursue theological studies at Emmanuel College. He was ordained by the London Conference in 1994 and went on to serve congregations in Englehart for five years, Monkton for four years, and Melbourne for twenty-one years. He married Joan in 1987 and proudly became an instant father to Steven and Pamela. Today, both have families of their own, adding to the joy of family life. Following his retirement from ministry in 2024, he and Joan settled in London, Ontario. In retirement, he enjoys spending time in the garden and pursuing his passion for model railroading.
