Dear friends at Glen Morris,

It is amazing to think that not too long ago we were speaking of long nights, and now, the light is beginning to tease us at the horizon later and later. Soon, our clocks will move forward an hour, and as we speak of this Lent as a time of refreshing, renewal and seeking, I wonder for us all: what will you be  springing towards? What will you be seeking? How will God play a role in this?

I know when I first hear questions like these I struggle for some sort of answer that seems profound or deeply spiritual. The deeper I delve into my faith, however, the more I appreciate that sometimes the answers to these big spiritual questions can actually seem mundane or overly simple. Despite that simplicity, these reasons to keep seeking are all valid. There are so many reasons, all as unique as the seeker themselves, so allow me to share some reasons, both big and small, in no particular order:

1. Finding new meanings in bird songs when they return from their winter flight

2. Deepening spirituality and understanding of one's place in the world

3. Better understanding that song or hymn that you just can't get out of your head

4. Gaining a new perspective that may help mend old ruptured relationships or strengthen those still standing

5. Appreciating the sunrise or the fact that you woke up in the morning

6. Learning how to give or receive grace and mercy

7. Finding the space needed to move on and let go of something that has happened to us in the past

Regardless of your reasons for seeking God and spirituality this lenten season, God knows the work you are doing. God hears your prayers and God is with you in your spiritual fast every moment.

So what is your reason for seeking?

Blessings friends,

Jayden
