Peace be with you friends,
This week I have just returned from a study week spent at the Fulcrum Skillshare, an annual gathering held near Bancroft, Ontario where around 100 people come together to share not only their skills, but love, creativity, and passion for community.
The first time I attended this skillshare I learned how to bake sourdough bread - a skill which profoundly shaped my ministry, especially this past year as we explored Lent through the theme of Bless, Break, and Share. Other years I have taught basket weaving workshops and explored spoon carving, blacksmithing, hide tanning, and more. While I may not be an expert on these practices, they have taught me about relationship, earth stewardship, challenged me to rethink my relationship to the things I consume, encouraged me to spend more time paying attention to nature.
This year was a gorgeous sunny weekend of new skills such as using black walnuts to create dye and how to coordinate the Humanure system that keeps the outhouses up and running! Here is a short video that captures how this event is filled to the brim with moments of wonder, new lessons, and great people to learn alongside.
Looking forward to gathering with you around the fire this weekend as we celebrate Pentecost, may the winds of change and the fire of transformation invite all of us into this next liturgical season,
Yours in Christ,
Rev Michiko
