Culture Days is a national celebration held each fall, inviting individuals and groups across Canada to celebrate arts, culture and heritage in their communities. The County of Brant is once again inviting residents and visitors to take part in its 2026 Culture Days celebrations, running from September 18 to October 4. All offerings can be found by searching Brant Hub at culturedays.ca/en/hubs. This year’s festivities will kick off with several programs and presentations at St. George Applefest on September 19 and 20.
Glen Morris will be part of the celebration with a unique, hands-on workshop inviting participants to explore the community through texture, observation, movement and nature.
On Saturday, October 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Kelly Dinsmore and Mischa Dinsmore, both of Glen Morris, will lead a workshop that encourages participants to look at the community in a whole new way.Participants will take a guided walk through Glen Morris, looking closely at surface details that often go unnoticed - from tree bark and building materials to doorknobs, signage, pathways and other everyday markings. The walk will cover a variety of terrain and take approximately 30 minutes. Using photography, participants will document the textures they discover while also creating textured prints through rubbing, printmaking or transfer techniques. Together, these activities will create a visual and tactile record of their experience. Rather than mapping Glen Morris by streets or landmarks, participants will map their experience through texture. Each photograph and print will become a record of where they have been, what they noticed and how they connected with the surrounding environment. The result will be different for every participant.
The workshop encourages participants to slow down, look closely and interpret their surroundings in their own way. Grounded in accessibility and participant-led exploration, it welcomes a variety of ways to engage—whether through photography, printmaking, walking, observing or simply reflecting.
